Holmes Bros TimberTech was established by two enterprising brothers a decade ago while they were studying at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Their journey began as chainsaw operators, diligently cutting eucalyptus blocks during their university vacations. In the early days, they hired locals to help strip and move timber to the roadside, which proved essential for their operations. They encountered significant challenges in transporting the timber to the mill, primarily due to unreliable transporters, which ultimately prompted them to invest in a used truck and trailer to facilitate their logistics.​​
